Delve into Dynamic Non-Driving Tasks

In partnership with 7th Sense Research, UCL PEARL is conducting research into the impact of non-driving related tasks on drivers’ situational awareness during transfers of control in autonomous vehicles.

The aim of this research is to understand how tasks such as using a handheld mobile device, writing an email, or listening to music can affect drivers' readiness to take back control from the vehicle. This knowledge will help improve the design and policy of future automated vehicle systems.

We are seeking to recruit individuals over the age of 18 who hold a valid driving license to take part in this study.

Experiments will take place at the PEARL facility on various dates from April 29, 2024, to May 17, 2024. Participants will be compensated with £70 for their time and travel expenses to participate in two hour slots between 9 AM and 8 PM.

If you believe you are eligible for this study and would like to find out more, please contact alicia@beamfw.co.uk and read through the information sheet attached to learn more about the research.
